It’s basically summertime, which means it’s time for us to start thinking of all our summer activities. It’s an exciting time for us and our dogs: when it’s nice and sunny out, it’s a struggle to get those pups inside!
While she was inside, trying to relax, one poor Bernese Mountain Dog was bombarded by bubbles on Wednesday, April 30th. How she felt about this soapy disrupting is pretty obvious:
Ziya the Berner is definitely not a fan of bubbles, which is so funny! Lots of dogs will chomp at bubbles like it’s nobody’s business!

Ziya is a bit of a dramatic queen, just in general. She does not like when things are out of place: she has her routine and the things that she likes. When something strays from that, she has something to say about it!
For example, during today’s designated couch time, she was bombarded by a bunch of bubbles. There are several reasons she probably did not like them at all:
-
They move really quickly.
Ziya likes to avoid the bath whenever possible, and having a bunch of sticky soap bubbles flying at her makes that impossible. Plus, if they pop on her fur, it will probably taste a little bit bad, though it most likely won’t make her sick.

Pet safe bubbles might go over better for Ziya, and they’re better for dogs in general! They make peanut butter and bacon flavored ones that are perfect for popping and “eating,” though it won’t solve the popping-on-coat problem.
The one issue with pet-safe, flavored bubbles is that they’re a little sticky, but that’s okay, it only takes a second to clean up. Make sure you play with them either outside or in a more open room so they pop on the floor instead of on furniture.
During shedding season, which we’re in right now, I find that a vacuum that both vacuums and mops is essential! Last year, I was roughing it with just a broom and a Swiffer Wet Jet. Since switching to the Tineco iFloor 3 from Costco, I no longer say at least three bad words when we’re getting the bubbles out. Any vacuum/mop combo will do, though!
Ziya might be cursing regardless. I think bubbles might not be her thing…
