Bybit Enhances Liquidation Data Transparency to Attract Institutional Investors

Revolutionizing Data Access for Traders

Bybit, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, has announced a significant upgrade to its application programming interface (API), making all liquidation data publicly accessible. This initiative aims to foster greater transparency in the cryptocurrency market, a crucial factor in attracting institutional investors.

Faster and More Accurate Liquidation Updates

With the recent enhancements, Bybit’s API now delivers liquidation data updates every 500 milliseconds—doubling the speed of the previous version, which provided just one update per second for each trading pair. This improvement ensures that every liquidation event is captured in real time, closing the gaps that previously obscured the true extent of market activity.

Empowering Traders with Real-Time Insights

Ben Zhou, CEO and co-founder of Bybit, emphasized the importance of transparency in the cryptocurrency space. “The real spirit of crypto is transparency. By making all liquidation data fully public, we’re empowering traders and analysts with the insights they need,” he stated.

Liquidation data plays a critical role in helping traders identify market trends, establish support and resistance levels, and anticipate potential volatility spikes. By examining this data, traders, analysts, and institutional investors can gain invaluable real-time insights into market dynamics.

Understanding Market Volatility

Earlier this month, the cryptocurrency market experienced significant volatility, resulting in over $2.2 billion in liquidations within just 24 hours. Zhou estimated that the actual total liquidation figure could be much higher, suggesting it could reach between $8 billion to $10 billion. He noted that on Bybit alone, liquidations amounted to $2.1 billion during that same period.

Addressing Data Limitations

Zhou attributed the previous lack of accurate liquidation data to API limitations, which hindered the exchange’s ability to provide timely and comprehensive information on market events. The recent upgrade aims to rectify these issues, ensuring that traders have access to the most up-to-date and relevant data.

In conclusion, Bybit’s commitment to enhancing transparency through improved liquidation data access not only benefits individual traders but also positions the exchange favorably in the eyes of institutional investors looking for reliable market insights.
